The Bornoff String Workshop
at Camp Kiwanee
Hanson, Massachusetts

The Bornoff String Workshop is dedicated to string teacher training. It provides teachers, of any orientation, with a week of intensive study focusing on the Bornoff philosophy, procedures and materials. Dr. Bornoff’s extensive background as an artist, and his experience as an educator, combined to make his class approach to the teaching of string instruments unique. This workshop is designed to explore, in a practical manner, his logical and sequential approach to the mastery of string instruments in class situations.

This week is a must for every string teacher. No matter what your level of experience, the workshop will help you get a fuller tone, better intonation, and more rhythmic playing from your students. In the hands-on curriculum, you will play violin, viola, cello and bass, and also discuss such topics and tools as:

  • Finger patterns and the seven bowing variants
  • Skill solidification
  • Group-solo technique.
  • Lesson plans and pacing.
  • Meaningful repetition, creative review, and friendly competition.

Ample time will be devoted to pedagogical discussion and experimentation. Reading orchestra is also included. Come work with Dr. Bornoff’s team of top teachers to gain the knowledge and confidence to make your program the best it can be.
