GUEST ARTIST
Henrique Prince
Our
special guest artist, violinist Henrique Prince, comes to us from
Jamaica,
New York. He began to play the violin at the age of nine. His teachers
were:
Charles Meacham, principle second with the San Francisco Symphony and
Opera Orchestra, (1975-78), Improvisation with Dr. Barry Harris, Jazz
pianist
(1982-97), and Lance Hayward, pianist (1983-88). Henrique¹s
professional
career started in rock and funk bands in 1976, in California¹s central
valley, and later in Northern California. He has performed with the
Indian
Valley String quintet, Cuban dance bands, Saturday Night Live Band,
Sea
Music Festival, Mystic Seaport Museum, Let¹s Share Arts Festival and
Lone
Star Wranglers Bluegrass band. His recordings has been with Palace
Music,
the Palace Brothers drag city music, Sea Music Festival Mystic
Seaport, The
Ebony Hillbillies and King Size Music NBC¹s Today Show Jingles.
Henrique
also teaches in Brooklyn, New York City: Jazzmobile, N.Y. P.S. 262,
Mindbuilders Cultural Arts Center, Ladsonian Foundation and Noel
Pointer
Foundation.
