The March String Fest is now in its 28th year. The workshop is for string players who want to get together and make friends, enjoy music and share in the FIDDLE BAKE-OFF.
The Twenty-Fifth Annual March String Fest There are always outstanding entries in the Fiddle Bake-Off contest. Any student who wishes to bake a dessert with a musical theme should bring it to the March String Fest. Last year cakes, cookies, pizzas and candy were made into shapes of violins, music stands, etc. Let your imagination run wild! Winners will be selected by a panel of judges. To Enter: Check the box on the registration form. Bring your entry to the March String Fest on March 3, 2007. RAFFLE All participants will have their names placed in a box and our guest artists will draw the winning names for:
FEATURED ARTISTS Our talented guest artists this year are a violinist and cellist from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Lucia Lin and Owen Young. Lucia made her debut performing with the Chicago Symphony at age eleven. She has won numerous competitions, played with orchestras around the world, and served as Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster of several symphony orchestras. She enjoys chamber music, and is a member of the Muir String Quartet. She and Owen are both founding members of the chamber group Innuendo. Owen has been a member of several symphony orchestras, and taught at the Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory's Extension Division, and the Longy School of Music. He is active in Project STEP (String Training and Education Program for Students of Color) and the BSO's Boston Music Education Collaborative. He performs frequently with singer/songwriter James Taylor. ORCHESTRA There are four orchestra levels:

well and have lots of ensemble experience
Music will be distributed during the
afternoon by our staff of string teachers.
1. Music stand (well marked with the
owner's name) MUSICAL MOMENTS Last year, Musically Yours, a company that sells musical items, donated prizes to our winners in the Fiddle Bake-Off. Students have asked for their return – and to bring more selections such as-T-shirts, music bags, etc. Come and take a look at their display. Bring your money and take some musical souvenirs home. Every year our music stores and schools support the March String Fest by donating musical items. Johnson String Repair, Newton Centre Music, Brookline Music School and Rayburn Musical Instrument Company will again donate prizes for the raffle. A special thank-you to Jo Ann Brown who has donated the violin, bow and case. MARCH STRING FEST DIRECTIONS From Boston, Devotion School is situated between Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue at 345 Harvard Street, in Brookline. From Rte. 128 South, take Route 9 East and drive to Harvard Street, turn north until you arrive at the school. For parking, there is a parking garage underneath the school on Stedman Street.

for parents and teachers who would like to spend the afternoon
watching the activities and enjoying the recital. Enrollment, as in the
