FEATURED ARTISTS

Our talented guest artists this year are a violinist and cellist from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Lucia Lin and Owen Young. Lucia made her debut performing with the Chicago Symphony at age eleven. She has won numerous competitions, played with orchestras around the world, and served as Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster of several symphony orchestras. She enjoys chamber music, and is a member of the Muir String Quartet. She and Owen are both founding members of the chamber group Innuendo. Owen has been a member of several symphony orchestras, and taught at the Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory's Extension Division, and the Longy School of Music. He is active in Project STEP (String Training and Education Program for Students of Color) and the BSO's Boston Music Education Collaborative. He performs frequently with singer/songwriter James Taylor.

There are four orchestra levels:

No. 1 - Advanced players who read well and have lots of ensemble experience
No. 2 - Intermediate players who have experience but are not fast readers
No. 3 - Second/third year players who are just starting to play and have minimal reading skills
No. 4 - Beginners/second year players who are just starting to play and have minimal reading skills

Music will be distributed during the afternoon by our staff of string teachers.

Students should bring:

1. Music stand (well marked with the owner's name)
2. Instrument !!!
3. Money for Musical Moments

MUSICAL MOMENTS

Last year, Musically Yours, a company that sells musical items, donated prizes to our winners in the Fiddle Bake-Off. Students have asked for their return – and to bring more selections such as-T-shirts, music bags, etc. Come and take a look at their display. Bring your money and take some musical souvenirs home.

Every year our music stores and schools support the March String Fest by donating musical items. Johnson String Repair, Newton Centre Music, Brookline Music School and Rayburn Musical Instrument Company will again donate prizes for the raffle. A special thank-you to Jo Ann Brown who has donated the violin, bow and case.
